The Shire of Jerramungup engaged our team to support their need for a new, fit-for-purpose swimming pool. The existing facility is a joint Education Department and Shire-managed pool, and the lease was due for expiry. We assisted with a series of meetings with the Education Department and the Shire to secure lease renewal. The Shire worked with us to prepare a needs assessment and feasibility study, undertake stakeholder engagement, and perform a comparative market analysis. This provided the Shire with options to consider and a preferred facility development and management model. An assessment of current and potential future usage was conducted to identify gaps in provision. The financial analysis identified capital funding, operational costs, and risk assessment as critical success factors for the project. Following the preparation of the Building Better Regions Fund and Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund applications, the Shire was awarded $2.1 million in funding from BBRF. Ultimately, the decision was made to retain and refurbish the facility. Outcomes linked to our engagement with the Shire of Jerramungup were an operational management structure that suits the Jerramungup community. Facilities were constructed in line with asset management and recreational facilities guidelines, supporting sustainability and long-term asset management.
