Mark Weller (subcontracted to another entity) travelled to CKI and worked with the local community to complete a skills and asset audit and gather information on local businesses and the Shire, such as their capacity and capabilities. Mark and a small team then prepared the Cocos (Keeling) Islands CV, a highly engaging and interactive physical and electronic document package and business register aligned with the project objectives. The objectives were to provide local businesses and organisations on Cocos (Keeling) Islands (CKI) the best opportunity to secure employment from major projects undertaken in the Indian Ocean Territories (IOT). To showcase the capacity and capability of the CKI's businesses, service providers, workforce, and labour force, and provide information on all CKI's lifestyle and cultural and economic assets. To present the islands as "open for business", "Professional", and "Proactive", be developed with significant local engagement and 'buy-in', and be a 'living document', with training provided to allow the Shire staff to update the document over time. The CV is particularly relevant for the current $500 million Department of Defence expansion of the CKI runway.
