The Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberly engaged Mark Weller to prepare a cost-benefit analysis to support a business case and funding package for extensive upgrades to the East Kimberley Regional Airport. This project was identified as a priority to support community needs, commercial development (export of high-quality local produce) and emergency transport requirements. SWEK was awarded $7.56 million in round 5 of the Building Better Regions Fund, the largest grant awarded in WA in that round. This allowed the completion of stage 1 of upgrades. Given the success of the project, stage 2 is currently underway.
